WHITBY, ON – The Regional Municipalities of Durham and York are hosting a public meeting on the Durham
York Energy Centre (DYEC).

WHEN: June 25, from 5 to 8 p.m.

WHERE: Courtice Community Complex – Hall B
2950 Courtice Rd. N., Clarington

WHY: Durham and York regions will provide educational displays on current waste diversion programs, such as Durham’s Integrated Waste Management Program and York’s SM4RT Living Plan. Covanta will provide updates on the construction and operation of the Durham York Energy Centre. Staff from Covanta, Durham Region and York Region will be available to answer questions about the DYEC and waste diversion programs.

NOTE: The DYEC is a state-of-the-art, energy-from-waste (EFW) facility currently being built in Clarington, and is expected to be operational by the end of the year. EFW is a safe,
technologically advanced means of waste disposal in which garbage is incinerated and energy is generated. For more information about the DYEC, visit www.durhamyorkwaste.ca.
