DYEC Notice of Public Meeting
WHITBY, ON – The Regional Municipalities of Durham and York are hosting a public meeting on the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC). WHEN: Feb. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. WHERE: Durham York Energy Centre Visitor’s Centre 1835 Energy Drive, Clarington WHY: Durham and York regions will provide educational displays on current waste diversion programs, such as Durham’s Integrated Waste Management Program and York’s SM4RT Living Plan. Covanta will provide updates on the construction and operation of the Durham York Energy Centre. Staff from Covanta, Durham Region and York Region will be available to answer questions about the DYEC and waste diversion programs. NOTE: The DYEC is a state-of-the-art, energy-from-waste facility in Clarington. Energy-from-waste is a safe, technologically advanced means of waste disposal in which garbage is incinerated and energy is generated.
